With more than 75,000 participants and over 1,000 events, this year's London Climate Action Week (LCAW) served as a hub for conversations on climate, nature, food systems and public health. We interviewed Ylona Mak, Sustainability Professional at FrieslandCampina, to learn more about the conversations and trends that shaped the week.

What was your standout moment from London Climate Action Week 2026?

"For me, the standout realization was how much London Climate Action Week has evolved from a climate-focused event into a broader food, nature and resilience platform. Across many discussions, food systems were no longer treated as a niche sustainability topic, but as a central part of the climate, biodiversity, health and resilience agenda. That shift felt significant because it reflects how sustainability conversations are becoming increasingly interconnected and system-focused."

Looking back on the week, what are the three insights you will take back to your office?

"First, there is a clear need to move beyond ambition and focus on implementation and measurable impact. Second, resilience is becoming just as important as emissions reduction. Regenerative agriculture, for example, is increasingly being viewed as both an environmental solution and as a strategy for building more resilient supply chains. Third, I was struck by how sustainability, nutrition and affordability are converging. There is growing recognition that solutions can and should deliver benefits for both planetary health and human health at the same time."

If you could amplify one message from this week to our network, what would it be?

"My most important take-away is that climate, nature, water, land use and food systems can no longer be treated as separate agendas. The most impactful solutions will come from collaboration across sectors, value chains and landscapes. Building resilient food systems, for example, really requires partnerships, shared investment and collective action across the entire ecosystem."

Is there anything else that you would like to share?

"One trend I noticed throughout the week was the growing importance of external engagement and coalition-building. Events such as London Climate Action Week increasingly serve as platforms where new partnerships are formed, ideas are tested, and future narratives are shaped.

For organizations navigating sustainability transitions, staying connected to this broader ecosystem is crucial. It is often through these collaborations that the most innovative, and scalable solutions emerge."
